New courses to study

Genetic Engineering
Through Genetic Engineering you modify the characters of an organism by the manipulation of its genetic material. It is an advanced area in science and comes under the broad head of biotechnology. The demand for genetic engineers is growing in India and abroad. As a genetic engineer your work involves extracting the DNA out of one organism ,changing it using chemicals or radiation and subsequently putting it back into the same or adifferent organism .You also study how traits and characteristics are transmitted through the generations and how genetic disorders are caused.Your research involves inquiring into the causes and discovering the potential remedies..Genetic engineering in plants and animals is to improve certain natural chracteristic of value,to increase resistance to disease or damage,to develop new characteristic etc.It is used to change the colour ,size, texture etc of plants otherwise known as GM (Genetically Modified )foods.GE in humans can correct severe hereditory defects. To become a genetic engineer you must have a graduate or post graduate degree in Genetics or related fields such as bio-technology, molecular biology , microbiology or biochemistry from a recognised university, based on 2-3 years of research.

Robotics
Robotics is the science and technology of robots ,their design ,manufacture and application .For most of us Robotics is synonymous with automation.Carrying materials including heavy parts to and from inconvenient locations and handling hazardous materials like nuclear waste can be conveniently done by robots that never get tired or exhausted.Three D's -Dull, Dirty, and dangerous can be given to robots.automation in processing is classified in to 3 types.-hard ,programmable and flexible. In the hard type ,the sequence of processing operation is fixed by the structure or configuration of the equipment.High capital investment as in automobile assembly line is a significant characteristic of hard type.In programmable automation ,the equipment can be reprogrammed to suit the need of different types of products. In flexible automation, reproggramming is done offline.Numerical control and teleoperation are two vital elements of Robotics.Limited facilities can be found in institutions such as the IIt's for research-oriented work in this discipline, mostly as a part of PG programmes.BITS Pilani,Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and Manipal School of Technologies also have facilities.

Photography
With the explosion of the communication network, the growth of advertising and media and fashion boom, and digital photography ,it has now become a profession with great commercial value.Photos are an essential part in both print and electronic media. So this is an area of fering great scope for those who have an interest and attributes needed to be a professional . Photography requires talent and training. There are specializations like portraiture ,fashion and advertising photography, journalistic photography, wild life and outdoors photography and so on .

Eligibility : If you have cleared the 10+2 exam ,you are eligible for the diploma /certificate courses in photography.

Courses:-

There are also certificate and diploma courses.Photography is offered as an optional subject for the Bachelors degree in fine arts. Some institute offers BA courses in photography of three year duration.Successful photographers are creative individuals who can think and communicate in visual terms. They are able to interpret a client's needs , translating their ideas into images that work. Thus photography requires a keen observant eye,and an intelligent, curious and perspective mind. One of the most exciting aspects of photography is the variety of jobs available in the field, ranging from highly specialized, technical work to jobs that require creativity and visul literacy.
