Pilot Training at Indira Gandhi Akademi


Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), Fursatganj Airfield, Raebareli District, Uttar Pradesh-229 302, an autonomous Body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation Government of India, has invited applications for admission to the Ab-initio to CPL (Commercial Pilot License) Course commencing in September, 2011, designed to impart Ground and flying training for issue of CPL with Multi-engine endorsement and Instrument Rating (IR) on Multi-engine Aircraft. Course Training which extends for 15 months has 125 seats of which 63 are under General category. There are 19 seats reserved for SC, 9 for ST and 34 for OBC.


Applicant should have Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics & English as main subjects. Applicants of the General category should have passed English at 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics. General candidates possessing higher qualification with Mathematics and Physics as subjects should have passed English in 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics at 10+2.


SC/ST/OBC applicants should have passed in English at 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics at 10+2. Minimum age limit for above course is 17 years at the time of joining the course.


Selection: The Selection procedure consists of Written Test, Pilot Aptitude Test , Viva and Interview.


Written Test: The Written Test will be held at (i) Delhi (ii) Hyderabad (iii) Kolkatta (iv) Lucknow and (v) Mumbai from 10:00 hrs on 19th June, 2011 (Sunday). Applicants may give option for two centers, specifying the first and second choice. The test will have questions from General English, Mathematics, Physics & Reasoning and will be objective type of the 10+2 level. A minimum of 375 candidates will be short listed after written examination in the order of merit in the Written Test. The cutoff marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be 5% less than the marks secured by the last candidate in the General category. In case SC/ST and OBC candidates do not qualify even after 5% relaxation in the Entrance Written test, the seats identified for them would be de-reserved for General Category.


Intimation regarding examination centre will be sent by Courier/ Post directly to the candidates. IGRUA office can be contacted on telephone, if the same is not received by 12th June 2011. Information regarding Roll number and examination center will also be available on IGRUA website also by 4th June 2011.


Pilot Aptitude Test: This test will be conducted at Delhi from4th July 2011, for candidates from Delhi and neighboring states. For other candidates, the test will be held at IGRUA, Raebareli from 2nd August, 2011. The minimum qualifying marks for Pilot Aptitude Test is 70%. No relaxation in marks will be given for SC/ST/OBC Candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test.Result of Written Test and schedule of Pilot Aptitude Test/ Interviews will be available at http://www.igrua.gov.in/ after 27th June 2011.


Interview/Viva/Psychometric : Interview and viva for all successful candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test will be conducted at IGRUA, Raebareli from 2nd August, 2011. Candidates will be required to produce following documents in original at the time of interview:(i) Proof of Date of Birth ( such as 10th Class certificate )(ii) 10+2 Mark sheet(iii) Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC Candidates(iv) A Certificate that the OBC Candidate does not belong to Creamy layer. SC/ST candidates will be reimbursed 2nd Class to and fro rail fare on production of tickets from their registered address to Raebareli to appear for Pilot Aptitude Test / Interview. A total 125 candidates shall be selected for training as per merit list. They shall be inducted in batches every three months starting September, 2011.


Selected candidates will have to submit Class-I Medical Fitness Certificate before joining. List of Centers for Class-I medical is available at DGCA Website www.dgca.nic.in/medical/c1exam-ind.htm The Training fee is Rs.24.6 Lakhs, payable in four installments. The fee is likely to be revised.


Hostel accommodation within the campus on twin sharing basis (Separate for Boys & Girls) and Messing is provided on monthly charges of Rs. 7000/-, approximately.


Candidates can also opt for B.Sc. (Aviation) Degree from Chatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, which shall be conducted alongside CPL Course subject to completion of the prescribed syllabus on aviation subjects, flying and project work. Duration of this course will be 3 years.


Application: Application should be submitted in prescribed format available at www.igrua.gov.in/ The following documents should be attached to the filled Application form.(i) Self Attested Copy of Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC) and the Certificate from a competent authority indicating that the OBC candidate does not belong to creamy layer as per Govt. of India guidelines(ii) Two recent passport size (3cm x 4cm) photographs ( One pasted on form and the other enclosed)(iii) Application fee of Rs. 5,000/- by Demand Draft in favour of ‘Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi’ drawn on any Nationalized/Scheduled Bank and payable at Delhi. SC/ST candidates are exempted for payment of application fee.
